How Online Gambling Became Legal in Pennsylvania and Michigan
On October 30, 2017, Pennsylvania enacted a measure legalizing daily fantasy sports and online gambling. As soon as the Supreme Court made a decision on this issue, the new laws made it possible for casinos to provide sports betting. The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 was overturned by the Supreme Court on May 14, 2018, finding the federal ban on sports betting to be unconstitutional. As a result, Pennsylvania became the fourth state to permit online gaming.
The state of Michigan legalized internet casinos, sports betting, and poker in 2021 as a consequence of the state's restrictive gambling legislation. A dozen or so legal gambling services were available to Michigan gamers within the first few weeks of legalization.
Michigan currently has a variety of gaming choices thanks to several state laws. In Michigan, legal online gaming, sports betting, daily fantasy sports, and other forms of gaming were made possible by a combination of state gambling legislation.
