That’s the basic trade off running through Mines. Fewer mines generally mean more frequent safe picks but smaller potential rewards for each successful selection. More mines create a much more volatile game where a successful pick can increase the multiplier faster, but hitting a mine becomes far more likely.
More Mines Does Not Mean Better Odds
A board with many mines can give much larger multipliers after a few safe picks, which can make the high risk setting appear more profitable. But the larger payout exists because reaching it is less likely.
Suppose one player chooses two mines and another chooses 20. The second player may see a much more attractive multiplier after finding a gem, but that player began with only five safe tiles on the entire board. That’s the price of the larger number.
The same principle appears across many Stake Originals. Limbo allows players to choose ambitious target multipliers, but the probability of hitting them falls. Crash can potentially continue climbing, but remaining in the round longer means accepting the possibility that it crashes first. Big potential payouts and low probabilities are two sides of the same calculation.
Mines Strategy Is About Knowing When to Quit
Choosing the number of mines sets the overall level of risk. The cash out decision determines how long you’re willing to carry it.
