How to Beat the Casino in Craps
In order to beat the casino, or at least have a chance of doing so, you need to know three important things. The first is knowing the game and its rules. The second is your bankroll and how to manage it properly. And the third is setting a limit on your losses.
There are dozens of possible bets in craps. But it is very important that you always choose only those bets that have a low house edge.
If you are just learning the game and do not want to spend money, try a free craps game on Spinarium. We recommend choosing the "pass" or "don't pass" lines and betting the minimum bets on them. After the first roll of the dice, maintain this bet as much as possible.
This is the best way to play craps. And even if you play with minimum stakes, you can increase your bet by 3-10 times (in some casinos even more) after the first roll. These are the so-called odds that will support your initial bet, and more importantly, they do not have an advantage for the casino.
Best Craps Bets
Some of the best bets you can make in craps are the basic bets. These are the pass line/come bets, where you bet on the player who is currently rolling the dice, or the don't pass/don't come bets, where you bet against the player rolling the dice.
The pass line bet is made before the point is determined, essentially at the very beginning of the game round. You win if a 7 or 11 is rolled, and you lose if a 2, 3, or 12 is rolled. If another number is rolled, that point is played. The pass line wins if that point lands on the bell before the dice roll a 7.
The come bet is essentially the same as the pass line bet, the only difference being that the come bet is made after the point is determined. Again, 7 and 11 wins, 2, 3, and 12 losses. If another number comes up, the bet moves from the Come field and creates a sort of individual point that must come up before the 7.
Betting on Odds in Craps
Once the point is set, you have the option to start betting on what are called odds. Be sure to use these bets, as this is the only way to play craps in the most profitable way.
If you use the odds option in a game, you are knocking down the house edge. This is why odds are so important to many craps players. They like to play with a small house edge. In order to bet on odds, you first have to bet on the pass line. And you can only make this bet if the point is rolled. Then you get the option to make multiple bets on the pass line. This can be double, triple, or quadruple.
Proportional amounts and their payout ratios
- 4 or 10 pays 2 to 1;
- 5 or 9 pays 3 to 2;
- 6 or 8 pays 6 to 5.
The winning strategy in craps is based on placing the four most profitable bets plus two promising side bets, completely excluding all other types of bets. If you follow this tactic, you have every chance of winning! The best bets are Pass Line, Don't Pass Line, Come, Don't Come, and bets on numbers 6 or 8. None of these bets gives the casino a profit of more than 1.52%, and when using odds bets, the casino's profit drops to 0.85%.
Wrapping It Up
Craps players take different approaches. Some want to minimize risk, while others, on the contrary, crave maximum excitement. But there are strategies that provide a balance. Choosing bets with a low house edge, including Pass Line or Don't Pass, allows players to stay in craps longer and manage their funds more wisely. Understanding the game's math and focusing on the right bets will help you view craps not only as entertainment but also as a chance to profit. Enjoying craps is a balance between rational and risky bets. Test your strategies and don't let your emotions get the better of you if you fail or succeed.
