Online Casino in Brazil is on the Rise

Brazil is one of the biggest countries in the world. With a population of more than 200 million, it’s not hard to conclude that we are talking about a market with huge potential. We all know that this is a nation that loves entertainment and if add the fact that more than 57% of the population use the internet, it’s clear why online casino is on the rise in Brazil.

Officially, online casino is currently banned in Brazil. While sports betting has become legal a few years ago, online gambling still waits for its turn. If we can trust the latest reports, this will happen soon, maybe already in the next year. Meanwhile, many abroad operators provide services to Brazilian players, like in many other parts of the world. The government tried to deal with these illegal activities a few times in the last decade and as you may presume, all efforts were unsuccessful.

As you may presume, the government can’t control and prevent this type of gambling and for the same reason, we can’t talk about exact numbers. Players have access to all international websites and as far as we remember, there are more than 200 online casinos that offer their services in the Portuguese language

While it’s impossible to give the exact numbers, it’s possible to make some estimations. These estimations suggest that the Brazilian online betting market is currently worth around $6 Billion. This includes sports betting as well, but we are pretty sure that online casino has a big share.

Keep in mind that these estimations were made before the Coronavirus pandemic and that the numbers are probably much higher these days. Some estimations suggest that online betting will be in the full swing next year and that the market of this South American country will be worth over $17 Billion.

Of course, the government won’t miss the opportunity to benefit from this huge market and we have no doubt that online gambling will be legalized in the near future. We expect full legislation and presume that the framework will be pretty similar to other countries that have already started the legislation process. This means a licensing system, which will allow operators to register on Brazilian soil.

Brazil has a big history of gambling and Brazilians like to play games of chance very much. So, remote gambling will soon enough become a common thing. At this point, sports betting is by far the most popular activity but online casino is growing pretty fast as well.

A good thing for international operators is that Brazilians aren’t much different from players around the world, so no bigger adaptations to the market will be required. Players from this part of the world prefer the most common casino games. Of course, slot machines are the most popular, while various table games are right behind. Just like in other parts of the world, Esports are in a big swing too and it’s just a matter of time before they will become one of the key activities among online gamblers.

All in all, it’s easy to conclude that the online casino market will continue to grow in this part of the world. A good thing is that the government has realized the potential of online gambling, so we are pretty sure that the time for legislation will come soon. The whole field will be regulated, while we are also pretty sure that the government will offer some attractive tax rates, which would attract a large number of operators. That would put Brazil on the map, and make it one of the world’s online betting centers, a kind of capital of the South American market. Brazil is a sleeping giant and there is so much room for the online casino market to grow in this part of the world.
